Bihar Election 2025: Over 53% Turnout in Phase One Reflects Strong Voter Enthusiasm

The 2025 Bihar Assembly Election kicked off with remarkable energy as more than 53.7% of voters turned out by mid-afternoon in the first phase of polling across 18 districts. The Election Commission confirmed that voting progressed smoothly in most areas, with only a few minor glitches in EVMs reported and promptly fixed.
This phase covers 121 constituencies that will play a crucial role in determining the political tide in Bihar. The contest remains fierce between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP and JD(U), and the opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance of the RJD and Congress.
High voter enthusiasm was visible in districts like Gopalganj, Banka, and Jamui, where turnout exceeded 55%. Meanwhile, urban pockets like Patna and Muzaffarpur saw slower but steady participation, expected to rise in the final hours of voting. The Election Commission praised the orderly conduct, crediting strong security and voter awareness campaigns.
Leaders from both camps — including Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav — cast their votes early and appealed for high participation. Both sides described this election as a battle for Bihar’s future, with jobs, development, and governance emerging as the main voter concerns.
The second phase of polling is scheduled for November 11, followed by counting on November 14. With a robust start and enthusiastic turnout, Bihar’s electorate has clearly signaled that this election will be one to watch closely.
